I think if you look at the whole of the Middle East as it stands today, there is only on area of stability and progress – Israel. That this nation came out of all the double crossing and deceit, of which the Feisal-Weizmann Agreement is just one facet, is testament to an intention outside of politics. Feisal wanted one thing, to be King of all Arabs, Britain promised in effect he would, but double crossed him in negotiating with the French and Russians to carve up the area for their own ends which just happened to include a promise to the Jews.

Whether Israel uses this agreement as evidence of Arab favour towards the Jews is probably irrelevant. I don’t think, politically speaking, that any nation or government on earth has truly honest and honourable intentions towards the Jews. Individuals yes, but not nations.

The sincerity of the Jews is evident, as you point out, and they continue to reach out to those nations surrounding whilst acting in legitimate self-defence.

Western self interest in this area, which continues to this day, will continue to ensure that it remains screwed up for the foreseeable future. Basically they are backing the wrong side which includes the P.A. whilst continuing to insist that Israel has a right to exist. Nothing much has changed in one hundred years, except Lebanon, Syria and Iraq, all former French or British Mandate areas are now a shambles.

The agreement speaks of the, “……..racial kinship and ancient bonds existing between the Arabs and the Jewish people…” It is a matter of reconciliation, not just coexistence.

    Rant over!

Excellent rant, Steve. I agree – some reconciliation is called for. As I said above: “I’m not holding my breath.”

    Interesting…
    So:
If Faical would have would have been appointed by the Allied powers as King of the Arab State he demanded (on the areas of Jordan, Syria and Iraq of today) he would have fulfilled his obligation to support the Jewish homeland in Palestine.
    Therefore…
The Arab Israeli war has nothing to do with the Zionist movement. The Arabs were angry because they were betrayed by the west and took it out on the Jews (see facials hand written condition).
It is sad that while focusing on fighting for a land they were not promised (Palestine) the Arabs are losing lands that they were promised (Syria and Iraq).
Poor old Faisal didn’t understand English? He had T.H. Lawrence by his side and he was the strongest and most famous Arab leader at the time. He just finished beating up the Ottoman Empire please do not disrespect his intelligence, wisdom and integrity. He knew exactly what was going on and what he was signing.
Wake up. Peace. Prosperity. Civil and religious rights for all.
